Thunderbird for Good
A legacy of supporting women entrepreneurs
The philanthropic arm of Thunderbird School of Global Management, Thunderbird for Good’s mission is to “create prosperity through business education for all.” Thunderbird for Good focuses primarily on delivering programs that train, support and engage businesswomen in developing countries and has educated more than 115,000 women professionals from all over the globe, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Jordan, Malaysia, Haiti, Chile, Peru, and Mexico.
The first women’s empowerment program was launched in 2005 to serve aspiring entrepreneurs from war-torn Afghanistan. Since then the school has provided business skills training and certification for thousands of nontraditional students from all over the world through Thunderbird for Good, a pioneer in developing and delivering customized programs at the base of the social pyramid. Thunderbird for Good program graduates create lasting value for their families and improve conditions in their communities by creating jobs and sharing their knowledge. Part of a broader mission
The WEAmericas Accelerator Program is part of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs’ Women’s Entrepreneurship in the Americas (WEAmericas) initiative. The broader parent program is dedicated to supporting businesswomen in the Western Hemisphere by:
- Reducing barriers
- Increasing opportunities for women to start and grow small- and medium- size enterprises
- Improving access to markets and capital
- Delivering opportunities for skills and capacity building
- Identifying leadership opportunities
